In Gryphiusstraße 28 there is a favourite program in the morning at six o’clock (sometimes even earlier, rarely later), each movement of the leading actress is followed to be able to react if she suddenly moves towards specific food bags in the kitchen.

During my wonderful long weekend in Berlin there was a mixed type of weather, so to speak. Hours of sunshine took their turn with heavy rains. The sunsets in these weather conditions to me are much more interesting than in a pure high pressure situation, the light colours of the sun form a beautiful contrast with tose of the dark clouds. And of course with those of the roses in the largest tub on our roof terrace.
There are a lot of opportunities to sit on the terrace and to enjoy the sun. But there are disturbances, especially the cries: “It is raining the seat covers have to get inside!” On these occasions the seats which just have been made comfortable have to be freed of their covers to protect them from the rain (even when I thought that they were weather-proof, but my beloved wife states that they are not). And when the sun shines again I hear “Beloved one, could you please take out the covers again?”
Our cats do love the rain breaks.

Since Friday evening, Buddy has been added to our household, a mixture between a Persian and a Chartreux. We “ordered” him, when Linus still had disappeared, and therefore we now have 3 tomcats.
Hanna thinks that Buddy is ugly, but it is true that he has got more of a Persian cat, a type of animal we never wanted to have. But he seems quite bright and very adventurous. While Linus and Smokie had hidden themselves for days, he at once started to explore the flat.
By the way, Linus is trying to bully him while Smokie does not know what to think of him.

After six weeks of absence we had given up on him, yes, that was the case. On Sunday evening we got a call just before midnight, we were in bed already. Someone told us that they had found our tomcat. Hastily we put on some clothes, fetched the cats’ basket and rang the bell about 500m and two streets away.
Of course we had our doubts, there were calls before when Hann and/or I went out, but it never was Linus. But this time it was true, we had found Linus. A nice young man had picked him up in front of our house about a week before because he cried miserably. Where he spent the five weeks before that, we will probably never know. Maybe he spent some time elsewhere, maybe he went on his hosts nerve as he really is able to cry quite enervingly.
Now we just need to find our lost oleander and our family would be complete again!

We are missing our tomcat Linus, who went astray on 22 September, so very much.…..and now we believe that he is dead. This makes us so unbelievably sad. Axel is trying to lift my mood by pointing out advertisements for cats on the net….but there is no room yet. Smokie’s (our other cat) approach is much more down to earth. He is looking for Linus on the attic every morning, miaows pitiably, but is easily distracted by playing with him, until he runs to the hallway again and cries out for him. I am dreaming of Linus every night and find many grey-brown tabby-cats, but he is not among them. Smokie is lying in my arm every night and when our neighbour’s cats come to feed, we both hope him to be among them. We miss him so very much.

Is Linus not looking as if he just walks through the air?

Those two like each other, even if they met only at the age of nearly two.

Our cats and especially Linus love our terrace and the many plants. Linus has at least three favourite spots among the plants for lying down. Unfortunately this is not always good for the plants and leads to twigs torn down and several deformations.

These two seem to like each other, at least they are not enemies.
