Berlin has failed with its case to get money from the federal government at the Federal Court of Constitution. The Spiegel Online quotes from the court’s statement:

The budgetary problems of Berlin are not caused by the lack of income according to the judges, but caused by the expenses. The capital city of Germany is spending too much money. All consolidation efforts during the last ten years did not reduce high expenses.

Maybe it is time to give up the mentality of receiving state aid and start to make an effort to save?

What a pity that I had to be in Hamburg when the Berlin TV Tower was lightened. But in the next two weeks there surely will be opportunities see some lights.

After letting this blog rest for a month, I think I will start again. It is just enough fun to do it and I will see what can be done to get a bit more readership. Some things will be just translations from our German Blog, but others will be exclusively in English.
