We just got away this time!
This morning at 7 am it flared and crackled in our living room. I thought that Smokie played in the Christmas lights, but it was the burning Advent wreath… fortunately we had put it into a big bowl, yesterday we had our freind Sabine to visit, who was talking to Axel as I was already sleeping, and he was sure to have extinguished the fire. The fire was put out very quickly, but the shock and the smog from the burnt wreath only cleared after windows open for an hour and s strong coffee! Hardly anything reminds of the dangerous situation, but again it became clear to me how fast everything might turn around. A truly bright exit of 2005.

Yesterday Sabine was our guest and it was past midnight when she left. I was tired and forgot to blow out a candle on our Advent wreath. This morning it was fully ablaze. Fortunately we realised it early enough and could extinguish the fire. One always thinks it could not happen to oneself. At least Christmas is over and we do not need it any longer

Some people call it optical or light pollution, but somehow illuminations are an integral part of Christmas time. It need not be flashing and blinking in different colours. When the lights show their golden reflections in the warm red of the decanting Merlot, it is indulgence for the eyes followed by one for the palate.

All talk about white Christmas all the time. A typical cliché because everybody thinks of a Christmas in the Alps, sort of. Yes, images like “Silent Night, Holy Night” or “Snow falls over the trees” have their origin in this region. Ok, “White Christmas” is from an American movie called “Holiday Inn“, but weeks before Christmas people speculate if it will be “white” or not. Well, it is two days late, but it is here.

We had lots of fun, eating, singing, drinking, dancing. And it went on for a long time, rather late, I think I was in bed at around 3 am. Some said it was the best Christmas they ever had. But that is how it should be: cheerful and not sentimental. For some impressions click on the picture or here (takes some time to load, please wait).

This is the way Smokie lies in my arms nearly every night! Therefore bending my right arm is my typical gesture… when Axel is here, he has a very strong urge to lean against me as well… that means he crawls towards me from the other side… and always wants to feel a direct touch… for example the hand on the face of Hanna or elbow at the shoulder.. and in the course of the night both become more and more intensive through stretching and moving… maybe I understand now why I do not loose weight.. pure self-protection.

According to Spiegel Online an American (where else) market research study found out that there is something like a high-tech addiction. The Spiegel calls it “Every-Day-Drug High-Tech“. Do we need to confess ourselves addicted???
